Taking the 1st step...
If you feel lost, having difficulties your relationships, are stressed, feel low, struggling to find acceptance, I'll be walking the path with you to assist you to get to where you want to be
I offer support and understanding on how to deal with any over-whelming feelings, stress, or burnout in relation to climate change, destruction of biodiversity, nature, and animal loss.
Therapy for eco-anxiety can help you deal with anxiety due to climate change, destruction of the natural world, & environmental degradation.
First and foremost, it's vital to recognise your feelings are legitimate and valid. They're in response to complex issues the planet is experiencing as a consequence of human behaviour and widespread avoidance of the issues.
It is important to ask for help when eco anxiety is interfering with functioning in daily life, social interaction, is leading to depression, panic attacks, insomnia, or despair.
Nature based therapy, such as walking and talking counselling can help to connect us back to nature.
Whether it is online sessions or out walking in nature, counselling for eco-anxiety can help you deal with any distress, overwhelming feelings, anger, & any possible lack or loss of tolerance for uncertainty.
Clients often seek help to deal with eco-anxiety when resilience levels are low and they feel hopeless.
Counselling can help explore these feelings, help with building resilience, and learning more suitable coping strategies.
Therapy can assist with improving windows of tolerance to stress with climate related issues, and at times can be used to find ways to more hopeful and a perhaps active path.
For me therapy helps, taking time out when it's too much helps, being around others with a similar mindset is vital, and writing replenishes my fountain too.
At times I write for Happy Eco News dedicated to publishing 1000s of genuine good nature, climate, and environment news stories, being part of a large and growing collective gives me hope and resilience

What approaches & tools will be used?
Here's a few....
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) CBT helps identify & change unhelpful “cognitions” or thought patterns, beliefs, & behaviour which may be keeping you stuck. CBT can be used to challenge distorted or irrational thoughts such as “I am always going to fail”. Reframing thoughts & core beliefs enables clients to work on more helpful ways of thinking leading to improved mental well-being.
DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) skills. DBT can help you overcome intense or dysfunctional emotions, self-harm, and addictive behaviour. There are many DBT exercises that can be employed to help clients learn self-acceptance, better tolerate distress, manage emotions & unhelpful behaviours in a more balanced and healthy way.
Attachment Theory can assist you become aware of attachments styles left over from childhood that may be causing struggles in current relationships, such as having avoidant, anxious, and disorganised patterns of relating to other people. Attachment theory helps clients deal with self-sabotage, to heal emotional wounds such as fear of abandonment, difficulty with trusting, to develop secure attachments leading to feelings of self-worth, & healthier relationships within family, friend groups, and the workplace.
Psychodynamic Therapy Often, we are led by drives we are not aware of, perhaps reliving unresolved conflicts from the past. Psychodynamic psychology can help you explore any unconscious processes that are negatively influencing emotions, behaviour, and relationships. It can help identify if transference, or defence mechanisms for example, are being deployed in unhealthy ways so the clients gain more control in life for long term growth, and well-being.
In Human Centred Therapy the “therapeutic” relationship between client & therapist is the most important factor for successful outcomes. Using “core” conditions of empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard to work together with clients to process feelings, & develop healthier coping strategies. The sessions are “client led”, which means the therapist (me) is not the “expert” on your personal and unique life experience. With a focus on self-acceptance & self-compassion, working towards client empowerment, healing and growth.
Trauma Informed Therapy The most important aspect of trauma informed therapy is creating feelings of safety for clients. If you are suffering from the impact of trauma &/or PTSD Trauma Informed therapy can help you regain feelings of being in control, a sense of agency, reduce hypervigilance, deal with flashbacks, & rebuild issues with trust. Trauma affects brain development, our emotions, relationships & can lead to uncontrolled anger & rage. Therapy can aid building inner strength, resilience, to process & move on from trauma working towards healing.
